Hi. We're Maid Myriad. Our music doesn't really make anyone dance. Well, it makes me dance. I feel like that's a good thing. Maybe if I dance hard enough, you'll want to dance along with us as well. Some of our music could be considered melancholy . That's okay. Some of us express ourselves in times of need. Whenever they need to talk. Shit. It's allright. We We'll still dance just as hard. (if we were born in the 50's do you think we would dance MORE or less to Maid Myriad?) We'll sing, We'll tell you about a record releasing sometime in the near future. (what kind of record you say?) You'll see. You'll find out. Someone will anyways. Things have been crazy here lately, and I feel like it should be time to talk to people.
(you've subscribed or at least expressed interest in us at some point... haven't you?)
Well, here goes some shtuff.
First off, let me wish you and your families Happy Holidays! This year has personally been an extremely fun year, and I hope this message FINDS YOU WELL!
We are playing at Musica Wednesday December 30th. This is our End Of The Decade Semi-Formal BALL. (and yes. semi-formal means dress UP.) A Ball is supposed to indicate that dancing will happen and like we said before, we hope you'll let your body take control for a moment or two on NEW YEARS EVE EVE
Also:
We are currently searching for a new teammate/guitarist/entrepreneur.
and
we are searching for people that want to adventure with us when we do crazy stuff.
Also: We will have some big announcements happening at our show December 30th. Let's just say they involve artwork, poetry, music, and an announcement.
We hope to see all of you there. (or watching it on YouTube a week later)
Oh, yes... also, expect to hear more from us. If it gets annoying, tell us. =)
Thank you.
Open Up Your Doors.

Central 8 Studios + JCK = Sonic Love
Half rant/half plug.
Immediately following High School, I moved to Chillicothe Ohio to attend The Recording Workshop (A professional Recording Engineer and Production training school)
I graduated from The Recording Workshop in 2005, and have been working with bands, artists, choirs, orchestras, and commercial clients for four years now. I have worked at SEVERAL recording studios in Ohio, and have helped design and build three different recording facilities.
This is why I am asking: If you know anyone who needs recording or production, I'm your man.
If you're serious about your music, you should be serious about who you trust with your recording.
My rates are low, Sonic quality is high. Remember, my name is on your project too. That's very important to me, so expect the best when we work together.
You can check out some of my sonic/creative work at http://www.myspace.com/freetruman
And of course, if you ever want to come on down for a tour of the studio, email me at jck@maidmyriad.com
Yippee.

Myriad update
So, there has been a babillion things happening in the M&M world.
We have new members.
We are working on a new record. (For reals)
We have been playing more shows.
We are building a community.
We are moving forward in a new direction.
This starts a new era of MM.
So, As many of you have noticed at our recent shows, We have new team members. Sam Hunt and Alex Popovici have joined the M&M family. It's been a pleasure working with them. We have been working on the new songs that we are writing for our next record. Preproduction is finished for the songs, and we head into Central 8 Studios this weekend to track Kev's drums. I'm pretty excited to hear how the songs are sounding.
As of right now, we're pretty sure Nathan Doutt and Randy Biddle from Central 8 Studios are going to help produce the record with MM and myself. As you remember, I composed, recorded, performed, and produced Embrace pretty much alll by mah self. It literally drove me crazy, and I think some reinforcements are definitely needed for this FULL length. We have 22 Preproduction songs, and we're still kicking around some new ideas.
Like I said above, we are building a community. We'll dig into this another time.
End for now.

Okay, then.
As I sit here staring aimlessly at this wretched computer screen, it has me totally fixated into a staring contest while it slowly caresses my mindless soul in the palm of it's hand. It's like this ridiculous B (maybe even C) Horror movie I watched last night. Tales from the Crypt's "Demon Night."
Myspace, Facebook, Twitter, Facebook, Twitter, Myspace, Facebook, Facebook, Twitter. Etc etc etc. I’ve become the very thing that I think is clouding our society's youth . Social Network addiction. The best part about this is one of my college research papers was totally written on this subject. Pathological Internet Use. (PIU) Here is my conclusion to the paper:
I have now determined that Internet “addiction” does not truly exist in the real world. We have classified such behaviors as Pathological Internet Use. The dependent personality has such characteristics of an addict, but lacks the physical dependence (such from a stimulus) to be stereotyped and labeled as “addiction.” With the creation of different categorical levels of Internet usage, we are able to identify the problematic uses of the Internet. I picked this subject, not only because I find it fascinating, but also because I hold the belief that we as a generation are stripping ourselves of an active “genuine” lifestyle, and are spending the majority in cyberspace. Now, I don’t claim to be a part of the solution quite yet, as I myself spend hours online working, but I do claim to be consciously aware of the problem. I feel like this subject is important in understanding the psychological need to feel connected to the world, friends, information, business, and all of the splendors that the Internet offers. A constant need for social connection, and a feeling of belonging, colors our thoughts and emotions. (Myers 2005) The Internet is one of the most valuable and powerful tools we as humans have created. The Planet Earth is shaping everyone to be more Internet dependent. Banks, colleges, music, business are leaning more towards strictly online work. If we are not aware of the potential problematic dependence, we can be prone to Pathological Internet use that can interrupt daily activities, and degrade our quality of life.
Hahaha. This is wonderful. The best part of it all, is I have myself thoroughly convinced that all of these hours spend on social networking sites are all for the sake of promoting my musical endeavors (therefore in my mind is a business write off.) One of the most honest conclusions I've come to in the past few days.
Here's how we'll work it from now on. If I need to be on this computer, I'm going to be productive as fuck starting now. I may be switching gears to the world o blogging, but at least it will be informative, honest, introspective, and (hopefully) entertaining. This could be your next favorite thing to do on the internet.
Fucking stalk me.
=)

Upan Atom
May. It's always the best month of the year. Hands down, it always ends up this way. Maybe because my birthday is in May, school is always winding down, and the weather is finally breaking. This month (well, maybe even the past few months) have literally been some of the best times of my life.
Who's counting anyways?
My birthday show at Musica was a complete success. I literally have not had that much fun playing music since the Embrace CD release show on October 26th 2007. Between the SEVEN brand new songs, the new players in my band, the friends I haven't seen in years, and the amazing lineup of bands, I'm pretty sure it was my favorite show I've ever played. And I've played alot of shows. This was also the first show with our new manager Benjamin Rexroad working with us. He's taken over all of the band duties that would get in the way of creating. His hard work and dedication has truly been an inspiration as of late, and we would probably be effing lost without him.
Speaking of the past few months, Between the places that I work, play, create, live, drink, and eat, I have really found a group of individuals that I can actually consider true friends. Not just "leave-a- facebook-comment-every-3-months-kind-of-friends" but real people. Really not sure what happened, or where everyone came from, but I feel so lucky to be able to have these individuals in my life. (If you have to question if this is you, it's probably not. There should be no questions.)
I can honestly say that for the first time in years, I am truly happy. I am actually creating. I am actually being productive. I actually have a group of real friends.
It's fucking refreshing.
Anyways, I have been hard at work on a million different things. (I will have to spread it out between multiple blogs, I'm sure) First off, the new record. We start recording this weekend and I am literally bursting at the seams with excitement. Lots of new songs, new ideas, and a fresh palette. More on this later.
Secondly, Maid Myriad is searching for other musicians and crew members.
We are looking for Serious, Dedicated, Talented, Creative team players who want to help build a community and spread the word about a musical vision and ideas that they believe in.
(In a nutshell)
Also,
My living situation is about to change. For the better.
Ahh, so this post doesn't really feel complete but the rain outside is making me sleepy. I think I'm going to take a nap on my porch. It's amazingly relaxing to hear the rain, feel the breeze, and stare at the best birthday present ever.
I leave you with an acoustic version of a new song called "Open Up Your Doors" Let me know what you think.
Who's counting anyways?

Well then,
Here we are again. The computer screen laughs in my face as I realize I've been staring blankly into it's eyes for about two hours now. The internet has become a better opiate than opium itself. In the midst of my momentary spaceout, I decided that my return to the world of blogging would be a better way to occupy my time than wasting countless hours on Facebook or Myspace.
::sighs::
The past few weeks have been crazy. We played a really fun BENEFIT show at Stow Munroe Falls High School last Saturday. We raised alot of money for the Keep Ohio Beautiful campaign. Playing the longest set of my career,(13 songs!) I walked off the stage with a rejuvenated sense of beginning for Maid Myriad. The brand new acoustic songs I had played were what everyone was talking about. It really made me feel hopeful for the new direction of the band. "Glimpse Of Bliss" is the most promising new song of the latest batch.
"Are we two lonely souls
Feeling alive living a lie?
Are we two lonely souls
Searching for a glimpse of momentary bliss?"
I have been jamming with new faces, new songs, new ideas, and other new creative outlets for my musical endeavors. Expect to hear some changes, and see a different JCK.
Finally updated my Pro Tools Rig and my Mac OS to Leopard. My computer runs like a charm now! I'll be working on demos pretty hard over the next two months. My goal is to release SOMETHING by the end of April. Whether it's the shelved "Everything and Nothing" sessions, the neverending "Fool's Delight" sessions, or the newly favored "Glimpse of Bliss" Sessions, there is a calmly collected pool of unfinished songs that I would like to release.
With the recent upgrades, my studio business "Casimir Soundscapes" is grabbing more and more local attention within the local music scene. I WANT TO RECORD YOUR BAND OR LIVE PERFORMANCE!

If you haven't heard yet, I host the Akron Open Mic Night at Musica EVERY TUESDAY from 7-10pm. We have some excellent drink specials, and the musicians who have been coming out are all really talented. A few weeks ago, my violinist friend Samuel and I performed an old favorite of mine entitled "A Boy and His Dream" We had a lot of fun, and we had NEVER played together before this very moment.

firsties
So, I suppose this is my first taste of blog since December of 2007. I've litereally been keeping myself isolated since then.
I won't go into the details, because, well... thats boring.
Wakeup: 5:35 pm
I'm actually sleeping alot of hours. It's kind of intense.
I keep seeing this crazy, 25 things about you thing that's floating around facebook like some cray attempt to tell people more about yourself. (and everyone is talking about it.)
so here is my vain attempt at filling this in.
Actually, fuck it... i have better things to do. I'm really going to create something beautiful.
***Sidenote. I actually filled it out. AND posted it on Facebook. Not quite sure how to access it...
